To qualify, please match the setup in our guide as closely as possible:
Method: Paper towel, seeds spaced apart, towels damp (not soaked), in a ventilated container/bag.
Temperature: Stable at [your target range, e.g., 22–26 °C] (avoid hot/cold swings).
Moisture: Towels stay consistently damp; no standing water.
Light: Low/no light. Controlled by enclosing with foil or the top plate or both
Time: Check once daily for 5 full days (120 hours). Don’t disturb or squeeze seeds.
Tip: A cheap thermometer/hygrometer helps you keep conditions stable.

Seeds that do not visibly crack/pop a taproot within 5 days using the paper towel method under controlled conditions.

Other methods (soaking only, planting direct in soil/coco, peat pellets, paper towel left in full sun, etc.).
Over-drying or waterlogging (towels dripping wet, pooled water).
Extreme temps (too hot/cold) or heat sources that cook/dry seeds.
Physical damage (cracked or squeezed seeds), contamination, or mold from unclean materials.
